Indigo Restaurant and Lounge in Casco Viejo
Indigo has been open and operating for nearly a year now and is a welcomed new addition to the Casco Viejo culinary and nightlife scene. A talented young chef blends Indian, Mediterranean and Asian elements among others into one of the most eclectic menus that you can find in all of Panama. The South Asian Indian decor adds further interest to a unique building that allows for a bar, restaurant and lounge to all coexist simultaneously in harmony. The bar and main dining area are partitioned off from a covered courtyard smoking area and an open back patio. Between it all you can relax on stools, benches, pillows, swings, at regular low tables or at high tops. Or you can just stand along the wall and bob your head to the music.

Meals are a bit pricey, but each dish is handled with creativity and precision and it is a great value when compared to what you would be spending at a similar restaurant elsewhere in the world. Drink prices are quite decent, with beers costing just over $2 and good-sized quality liquor mixed drinks going for about $4. The ambience, crowd and location make Indigo the perfect place to stop by for dinner or cocktails early in the evening. On weekend nights Indigo usually lines up DJs that pick up the pace a little bit to activate the lounge vibe and get people moving out of their seats. Through all of its diverse offerings, Indigo has something for even the most discriminating connoisseurs any night of the week.

A cool small house party feel, and one of the best late night places in Panama.

Stay away! Ridiculously overpriced drinks cost twice as much as at Can Masoliver (Cafe Balear), which I thought had the most expensive drinks in Panama. At least Balear is consistently delicious. Food at Indigo was terrible, devoid of seasoning, and awfully greasy. But the worst was being charged $20 for a shot of scotch and $9 for a shot of Grey Goose.
Keep walking to Manolo Caracol or Mostaza or anyplace other than this con job.
