Luna’s Castle, the Place to Meet People, Stay the Night and Be Merry

Set in the historical UNESCO-heritage site of Casco Viejo in Panama City, Luna’s Castle is an excellent example of the old being further preserved and appreciated by something new.  Located in a three-story mansion constructed in the 1800’s, once home to a wealthy family and later to senior citizens, Luna’s Castle now holds over one hundred travelers at full occupancy.  The natural beauty of the architecture is enhanced by fresh paint, funky furniture and plenty of paintings and sculptures to fill in the negative spaces.  All guests have complimentary access to computers, wi-fi internet, pancake breakfasts, unlimited coffee and tea, ping-pong, and even a small movie theater.

A bunk bed in a dorm goes for $12 dollars a night and private rooms are available as well.  You can find plenty of information about travel and tourist activities in Panama and the region and the friendly and helpful staff can help you organize trips to the San Blas Islands, Colombia, and almost anywhere else you would want to go. With a variety of comfortable social areas, a large open kitchen and a separate bar downstairs, Luna’s Castle provides the perfect environment to relax, meet new people, and enjoy the best that Panama has to offer.

Luna’s Castle is one of my favorite hostals in all of Central America. It is located in Casco Viejo, one of the most beautiful and interesting parts in all of Panama, and it offers everything that you need at a fair price. It also has a bar downstairs in the courtyard that is open on the weekends which is a great place to meet local Panamanians and other travelers alike. Definitely a necessary stop to any Panama City visit.
