Just down the road from the town of Maria Chiquita, the 3.5 kilometer drive into beautiful jungle and river vistas towards the site of the Adrenaline Factory is a peaceful introduction to what promises to be an exciting experience.

Upon arriving at the staging area, we were met by our team of professional zip-line speeders, who geared us up, and gave us an introduction to our coming adventure. After signing a liability release, and listening to a safety run-through, we were ready to go.

First-up, our fearless guinea-pig, Evan Forbes. Always up for danger, he straps in with the help of our guide, double-checking his harness, and preparing himself mentally.

Regardless of whether you are a nature lover, an adrenaline junky, or you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to fly amongst the trees like Tarzan, this experience is a blast.

While definitely what you would call an action adventure program, this is an activity that men and women of all ages can enjoy. Adrenaline Factory loves to say that the youngest person to ever take this tour was five-years-old, and the oldest- 87!

There are a total of nine platforms on the tour, some starting over 40 meters above the ground. We at EyeOnPanama.com have been on a couple canopy tours in our day, and the Adrenaline Factory has the longest line we have ever been on- almost 200 meters!

The feeling of the wind in your hair, and the tree-tops screaming past you, is one-of-a-kind.

Our guides told us that if you go earlier in the morning, or later in the evening, you have a good chance of sighting monkeys, toucans and other tropical birds, and even rare Coatis (which is a tropical mix of ant-eater and a raccoon). And the views? Incredible.

Eventually, some of our team got the courage to attempt a couple tricks while flying between trees, and while everyone survived the experience, there were varying degrees of success. Ultimately, the pros showed us how it can and should be done- straight out of a circus, with flips, spins, and general gymnastics.

At one of the platforms, you have the option to do a mini-bungee-jump– definitely a leap of faith.

And finally, the most incredible part of the Adrenaline Factory canopy tour- the Superman Dive. Connected to the line from behind, and with the assistance of one of the A.F. pros, you can fly through the air like superman. This is something that should not be missed.

An incredible adventure, and surely a memorable event from your time in Costa Arriba, the Adrenaline factory canopy tour is not to be missed.

All in a day’s work for the Adrenaline Factory Team.

The Adrenaline Factory also offers beautiful jungle hikes with miles of trails through thousands of species of exotic flora and fauna. There are over 200 species of butterflies in the region, and more than 300 species of gorgeous birds. On-site camping is available for both individuals and groups, with access to bathrooms, showers, and a large communal eating and barbecue area.

A beautiful river flows through the property, and inter-tubes are available if a relaxing float down-stream is what you are looking for.

We had a great afternoon at The Adrenaline Factory, and encourage you to check them out. If you would like more information, contact us at EyeOnPanama@gmail.com.

Ah, I missed this one out when I visited the area last December. This is so Panama! It is exactly the kind of stuff Panama should develop and advertise more since it has been blessed with such beautiful natural environment. Experiencing the rain forest and tropical forests in general in various ways, takes us back to our roots (before culture, into nature) and it is not only fun but potentially healing.

Developers along with the tourist industry cannot afford not being mindful of both realities: sustainability of the natural and the social environment. If this mindfulness doesn’t come from the government, it has to come from private companies. Win-Win projects: how about that? The Government can step in with more educational programs and incentives for companies who are supporting environmental and social sustainability .

Sorry, I got a bit side tracked. I will definitely try the Adrenaline Tour next time, if you guys are concerned with safety as well. ;-)))
