Super G — The Spot To Be
Super G, also known as Super Gourmet, has been a landmark in Casco Viejo for several years now, originating in Bocas Del Toro, where its sister store, which has been around for the better part of a decade, still remains. With its chill vibe, abundant air-conditioning, free wi-fi, and a deli that serves up some of Casco’s best sandwiches and salads, it is one of our favorite places to stop for a quick bite while exploring the old city. And we are not alone. In fact, Super G attracts its customers from all over Panama City, from Howard to Tocumen.
While Super G’s delicious deli treats and fresh cookies and pastries are reason enough to make the trip, we must not forget that Super G is also a well-stocked grocery, carrying a wide selection of meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables, wines and liquors, cooking supplies, snacks, and much, much more. In fact, one of the reasons Super G has such a loyal customer base is that it carries products that you cannot find anywhere else in Panama. They have recently added gourmet espresso coffee, frappes, fresh fruit juices and batidos, as well as hand-made cigars to their product selection.
Owner Blayne Ladner is often hanging out in his store, chatting with friends and bringing his sense of Southern hospitality to Panama.

Coming from Seattle, I am accustom to a variety of healthy, organic food options. However, Panama City is lacking in this department. Super G is the best place in Panama to get a healthy salad or sandwich. Plus, if I am hanging out in Casco Viejo on a weekend, I always duck into Super G. The air con feels amazing.

Super Gourmet definitely offers a nice relaxed environment with delicious food. They also have a decent variety of unique imports available for purchase so it’s always worth it to stop in and see what’s on the shelves.

Super G is on Avenue A and 6th Street in Casco Viejo… Only one block west of the Parque Cathedral…(across from the back of the Panama Canal Museum…) Avenue A is the street that goes under Avenida de Martyrs as an underpass from Balboa…FYI…then through Casco.
Having a grocery with fruit and juice, gourmet items as well as beer/ wine carry out in Casco is remarkable – otherwise it’s about a ten minute trip to the closest market…each time
you need anything.
The food is good, the soup is hot and tasty, and the service is quicker than average. The fresh cookies and pastries every day make me glad but the Bocas del Toro chocolate warms my heart the very most. I do like the California Coffee brand too.

Love it! Can’t get a better sandwich anywhere in Panama, they deliver, and the staff is bilingual.
