The Only Place to Find Truly High Speed Internet in Panama

eop-evan-headshot2I am hovering over my internet router begging it to work again. It has been two weeks since I have had an internet connection- the whole neighborhood is out. “Why don’t you work?” I ask the router, as if somehow pleading with it will reconnect me to the internet.

“Dude, I think if you kiss it, it will come back online.” My roommate is an ass-hole.

Meanwhile, he has been on-hold for over a half hour with Cable and Wireless- AKA “Cable and Worthless”.

“Cable and Worthless needs to give us a month of free service for our inconvenience!” I scream in the general direction of the phone, as frustration really begins to set in.

“Dude, I’m on the same page. But we have to go all the way down to their corporate office, which is only open weekdays between 10 and 4, wait in line, submit a complaint, schedule an appointment to see the manager, and then they might accept our request.”

“Can’t they credit our account over the phone?” I say bewildered.

“No, that would be too easy.” He is a sarcastic bastard.

Two weeks later, without warning or apology, the green light returns, and we are back on the net, but out of patience with this company. Time to find something better.

Let me start by saying that Panama provides the best internet coverage out of any of its Central American neighbors. Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica and other Central American countries lag behind Panama’s internet infrastructure and connection coverage by years. However, when compared to the developed world, Panama’s internet connection would be considered average at best– especially high speed connections.

Yet, there is one company providing fast, reliable high-speed connections here in Panama. Though new to Panama, PaNETma already delivers the fastest and most reliable internet connection in town. EyeOnPanama.com switched to their service after constantly being disappointed with all other internet providers here in Panama. PaNETma does not cater to the low-speed internet market, and thus, does not offer anything less than 2 Mbps (megabit per second). However, if you are looking for that truly high speed connection- as much as 12 Mbps (or more!)- you can find it with their company, often for less money than their competitiors. More importantly, if we ever have connection issues, we contact our personal PaNETma customer representative on his cell phone, and if needed, he personally comes to inspect the problem. What a concept- customer service. We have switched both our home and office to PaNETma service and recommend anyone looking for a quality internet connection to do the same.
